Help Paying Your Telephone Bill in Washington County

Paying Your Phone Bill

Individuals or families whose income is at or below the current federal poverty level, (about $19,350 a year for a family of four,) and are on a state public assistance program can receive a reduction in their monthly bill for local residential telephone service. (But there’s no reduction for long-distance or special calling features, such as voice mail!) You can get $13.50 or more credited to your basic home phone bill each month from the Oregon Telephone Assistance Program (OTAP). You must be 18 years or older to apply.

To qualify, you must meet the income guidelines or have an open file with any one of the following low-income, public assistance programs:

  • Food Stamps
  • Welfare Medical ID Card
  • Oregon Health Plan
  • Supplemental Security Income
  • Low-Income Energy Assistance Program

How to Apply:

If you have questions, call 1 (800) 848-4442 (toll-free).
